a couple interesting pix from the "BrazilianKeratin" blog

When I set up this Blog, I tried using the name braziliankeratin. However, it was already taken. So, I just used BrazilianKeratinTreatment which is obviously just as good anyways, if not better. I was updating this blog today when I accidentally punched in the url of the braziliankeratin site: http://braziliankeratin.blogspot.com/. I was confused for a minute, cuz I thought someone had posted some pictures on this blog. But, it looks like the lady who did the site back in March simply set it up to show off a couple picture of the Brazilian Thermal she had just received. To make a long story short, it doesn't look half bad! It certainly has the that razor sharp edge and special shimmer found in real Brazilian Blowouts. I have the feeling though, that it was perhaps a ":high formaldehyde" home brew application. You might have heard that these custom mixes are usually stirred up at home by Brazilian ex-pats, with wildly varying results. On the flip side, salons get a lot of crap because they try and be a little conscientious about the formula they use....

but I digress... Hopefully its OK with the "model", as you can see I have included the pictures from the braziliankeratin blogspot site (don't forget! my site, that you are reading now, is braziliankeratinTREATMENT . blogspot . com).

Wow - look what I found!

And, No, its not a traditional Brazilian straightening either. Watch these first, and then I'll tell you what it is!

First watch this:

And now watch this:

And last but not least, watch this:

Now, many of you may be familiar with Thermal Reconditioning, Japanese Straightening, or even the Progressive Brazilian. You are probably wondering, "what the heck was that?.. it looks like some kind of process, because it used a neutralizer, but it was so quick, so it wasn't a traditional thermal, hmmmmm"...

Curious?

I'll let you know what it was in my next post...

Controversy!?

Ok - so now for the big pink elephant in the room ... and that is the controversy over the safety of Brazilian keratin treatments. I hate to write about this in one of my first posts, but I feel that I at least nee4d to mention it, and will definitely have to be dealt with in detail at some future date.
For the record, I tend to be a bit of skeptic when it comes to sensationalistic "scare" pieces. I'm talking about the kind of article you find in junk woman's magazines like Allure or Glamour. Right after the "50 ways to please your Lover using Household Appliances" comes the article on "I Went to The Salon, and Woke Up in the Hospital!".
Overall I would say that I am sick of adults who expect the government to always protect them from their own lack of research. I mean, lets face it, at a salon you put chemicals in your hair, and almost none of them are something you would want to drink! So you should be careful etc, blah blah. Is inhaling nail polish any less dangerous? How about the fact that driving your car to the salon has an infinitely higher probability of killing you than any hair treatment does...
I can see right now the lady sitting in the salon getting a BKT, demanding that fans be turned on a full blast, and gas masks worn - only to have her liver swell as she downs her 5th glass of wine of the day, laced with a known poison; alcohol.
grow up people.
I am dying to hear your comments...
