The beginning of it all

Well, welcome to the world of the Brazilian Keratin Treatment.

And who am I, you may ask...

Actually, I am nobody. Not a "nobody" just no one you probably ever heard of.

My name is Rina Falana, and this is my journey, my little corner of the blogosphere.



You see, I have have what you might call a huge tangled head of way too curly hair. I call the color "dusty brunette", if that means anything to you. It pretty much just like it sounds. Super long flowing locks, of a dark chocolate variety, lightly dusted with some vanilla powder.

OK, this isn't a cooking blog.

So why do I call this the Brazilian Keratin Treatment site? Its because I am a big chicken who wants to get my hair straight and under control. I have spent a long time researching all of the methods; from my years of painful blow-drying to my final bitter acceptance of this curly curse.

My research has taken me from far off Asia, the land of Japanese Straightening, all the way back to the good 'ol USA and its advance Thermal Reconditioning techniques.

I've studied them all and consider myself a bit of an expert by now. Like I say, there is one major problem. I have just been either to broke or too cautious to ever take the plunge and have one of these long term treatments done....

That leads me to the warm shores of Copacabana, where my potential saviour could well have been born.... From the back alleys of Rio's favellas to the lofty heights of Sao Paolo's glimmering skyscrapers, an ancient recipe has emerged, an alchemist's brew, the "one ring to serve them all"...

A way that my hair might one day be straight.
